I’d like to consider myself to be a stylish mama! I knew I didn’t want to loose my personal style after becoming a mom. While my style did have to change a bit (I talk more about it here) I’ve found ways to continue expressing myself through fashion while still being practical.
1. Find accessories that pack a style punch! This beaded patchwork bag is so fun and has so much more style than your basic leather handbag. There are so many things going on, on it and all the colors so it really can go with anything. These fan fringe earrings are also super stylish and I love the hammered gold finish. Both pieces would totally elevate any outfit. I could have worn them with my skinny jeans and a t-shirt and looked totally put together.
2. Find a fun pair of comfortable shoes. I used to live in heels, like I mentioned here, but now I more often than not can be found in flats. There are so many super cute pairs right now that turn an every day outfit into something much more stylish. You won’t find me in any old pair of flats, I’ve found so many that have so much style to them. A few of my current favorites are this pair, this pair, or this pair. These three are on rotation often! The heels I’m wearing here are so comfortable and the heel makes them visually interesting.
3. Find a top with pretty details or statement sleeves. This to me seems like a no-brainer and I’m sure if you have been reading here often enough you’d know I am big on the details!! This plaid blouse is a steal at under $20 so I won’t feel bad if I get a stain on it and the sleeve and shoulder puff detail makes it super fun and stylish. I could easily have swapped it out for a basic top but this one is so much more fun and helps to elevate my overall look.
4. Find a pair of high waist jeans or pants. I know not everyone is going to be a fan of high waist pants but I have to believe that all moms love a good pair of high waist pants. I mean aren’t they a moms best friend. They totally hold my tummy in and help create some shape.
5. Choose clothes that fit your body. Raise your hand if you have a piece or two in our closet that you’ve saved to hopefully fit back into one day. I know I have more than a couple pairs of jeans, a dress or two, and some tops! Trying to squeeze into something that’s too small is just as bad as putting something on that is too big. There were some things I bought that fit while my belly grew or postpartum as I started to loose the baby weight but I had to donate as soon as they became too big because they no longer looked right on my body. It’s only natural that our bodies will change, especially after having kids, but it’s so important to wear clothes that fit right on you right now. Sometimes that means getting clothing altered.
6. Find an easy makeup routine for yourself you can get done in minutes. I’ve played around with different beauty products (I love to try out new things) but have found a routine that I can do quickly and look more awake, my skin looking brighter. I feel like even if you don’t like to wear much makeup a little can go a long way and can definitely elevate your everyday look and overall make you look more put together.
